City of Mellen: population 980. Nestled in the a small valley of the Penokee Mountain Range. Industry consists primarily of logging and timber production. Mellen Public School system is located in Mellen with class from 1-12. Home of Copper Falls State Park. A large number of small inland lakes dot the area which offer a great variety of fish. Many within the Chequamegon National Forest. |
Our area
is rich in wildlife. We boast of our whitetail deer, bear and grouse hunting.
Also Wisconsin Elk Reintroduction project is located in Clam Lake,
WI. 20 miles to the Southwest. Snowshoeing , cross country skiing, ice fishing
and snowmobiling are favorite winter pastimes.
Lake Superior is 18 mile to the North. The Apostle Islands National Seashore a scenic archipelago of 22 islands is to our North. A 20 minute drive to our East put you into Big Snow Country with its multiple ski hills. |
